Selected Topics in Real-Time Media Communications



  • The course presents selected topics that involve real-time streaming of digital media over data networks using web technologies. It is targeted to engineering students who are expected to develop a career in the field of digital media. The targeted students should have passed successfully the Multimedia and Networking course and the Web Technologies and Usability course. The scope of the course tends to benefit from the latest advances in the web technologies that are specifically related to handling user media captured from webcams found in all modern computing devices such as laptops and smart phones. The scope of the course also tends to cover selected web technologies that are related to establishing and maintaining peer connections for audio and video streaming in real-life applications. Prerequisites: - DMET704: Multimedia and Networking - DMET601: Web Technologies and Usability
