CSEN 1081 Seminar in Methods & Applications of Complex & Temporal Networks

Course Information

Abstract

  • Complex networks, also known as “Network science” is an advanced subfield of data science. It is concerned with understanding, analyzing and visualizing large scale graphs, which are becoming increasingly common. Think of the “friendship” graph on Facebook or the graph of machines, clients and servers that forms the Internet. In this seminar we will read the book “Data Science and Complex Networks: Real Case Studies with Python” (check its content online), as well as related papers on temporal networks. Your task will be to understand and present these graph-theory related concepts and to re-create one of the case studies in Python or other appropriate tools.
