CSEN 1090 Seminar in Computer Science for the Arts

Course Information

  • Can computers imitate art? Whether you love historical artwork, music, architecture, films, literature, or other art forms, computer science has stepped in to contribute to the improvement, analysis, and even imitation of these art forms. These contributions may take the form of techniques that enable the automation of various aspects of art studies, the inference of novel insights generated from the analysis of vast art collections, or the automated creation of paintings, musical pieces, and film scripts. Through this seminar series, we will take a closer look at the research efforts targeting the analysis and creation of artwork, as well as the controversial issues raised by artists and historians about the implications of computerizing art to the human creative process
