C2 2017: 1st Workshop on Character Computing

where affective computing and psychology meet personified interfaces and adaptive systems

Nov 26th, 2017 — Stuttgart, Germany

C2 2017, the 1st Workshop on Character Computing is part of MUM 2017, the 16th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia which will be held in Stuttgart, Germany, November 26th - 29th.
The workshop covers multiple disciplines that come together to nurture the developing field of Character Computing. Contributions from any of (but not limited to) the following fields are welcome: Affective Computing, Personality Computing, Cognitive Computing, Psychology, Biotechnology, Machine Learning, Data Science, Adaptive Systems, Personified Interfaces.

C2 2017 is designed as a full day activity including four sessions on November 26th. There is no specific registration for C2 2017. Registration for the workshop’s day is available from the workshop hosting conference (MUM2017) and allows participants to attend any workshop that day. The deadline for for the early bird registration is November 3rd, 2017. Participation in the workshop without paper submissions is also highly welcomed.

The aim of this workshop is to harness and extend the advances of Affective and Personality Computing for and through computational means. Character Computing aims at providing a novel perspective on affective and personality computing, enabling the presence of ubiquitous and non-obtrusive character-aware adaptive systems. We define Character Computing as computing that is based on, detects and adapts to human character traits. Character is the defining variable of any human. If systems can understand character, combine it with the current state and respond accordingly this would be a step towards bridging the gap between humans and machines.

The workshop hopes to bring together experts from both academia and industry for a fruitful exchange of ideas and discussion on future challenges, in a comfortable and effective single-track conference format.

List of Topics

Participants from any, but not limited to, of the following fields of expertise are highly appreciated:
